New Year’s Giant Slalom Races
Madi McKinstry and Tanner Visnick were king and queen of Howelsen Hill on New Year’s Day where two Giant Slalom Races were contested following five days of training camp. Their times in both races were significantly faster than the rest of the field. In both races, Lyta Foulk claimed 2nd place and Zoe Taylor was 3rd. For the men, Devon Wright was 2nd in race 1 followed by Jeffrey Gay in 3rd place. In race number 2, Jeffrey was on the podium in 2nd place and Joel Nylander, “G’pa”, who traveled from Utah, claimed 3rd.
In the junior women’s category Entress Hayden captured 1st place in race #1 with Anna Allsbury in 2nd place. During the second race the girls places were reversed with Anna on top of the podium
Henry Barth was the fastest of the junior men with Cedar Mattole a close second place. Both had minimal penalties and will be a threat in the future.
