World Cup Races Scheduled for 08/09 Season

Telemark racers from around the world will converge in Kreischberg Austria in January to race for the title of World Champion.  The races will be held January 21-25 and will include Junior racers as well as the adult members of each nation’s teams.  World Championships are held every other year and always draws the largest group of World Cup racers.  The US National team expects to be well represented at these races.  Two years ago, competing as a Junior, Drew Hauser placed 2nd in the Junior GS (15th overall) and 3rd in the Junior Sprint Classic (9th overall).  Brett Stein also reached the podium racing to a 3rd place finish in the Junior Classic race and had a superb season last year.  Kelsey Schmid-Sommer has been just off the podium and is training hard so that she can break that barrier this season.

In addition to the World Championships, World Cup races are scheduled in Les Houches France and Thyon-Region Switzerland in December.   Kobua Slovania will host races prior to the World Championships in January.  In March, World Cup returns to Rjukan and Bjorli Norway.  Spain will be hosting 2 races in February that will not be World Cup races.
