49 Degrees North hosts a fun race

The 49° North ski area, north of Spokane Washington held their Winterfest weekend on January 9th and 10th with a nordic focus.  There were telemark clinics, a nordic ski race as well as a fun Telemark Giant Slalom race.  All these festivities were sponsored by Mountain Gear of Spokane.  It has been a few years since 49° North has hosted a Tele race, and we hope it is the first of a new annual series.  US Team member Suzanne Pattinson was the only elite woman racer, so she handily won that category.  Dave McCahill won the men’s Elite category with Clint Parish in 2nd and USTSA Regional Team Member Cole Schneider in 3rd place.  Richard Merkel was the fastest men’s master racer down the hill with Jennifer Pedersen the 1st place women’s master racer.  Merideth Ruland had a great time as a Novice racer.  Thank you to 49° North and Mountain Gear for hosting a fun race.
