Ty Upson named as 2012 National Team Coach
Ty Upson, of Steamboat Springs was recently named the US National Team Coach.
Ty has a strong ski racing and coaching background. Ty attended the Lowell Whiteman School in Steamboat and grew up racing in the SSWSC program. He attended CU where he ski raced and later coached. Ty has coached alpine racers at various levels and traveled and coached at the international level while coaching for Jackson Hole, Vail, SSWSC and the US Ski Team men’s D and C Teams. Ty also has his PSIA Level III and USSCA full level III coaching accredidation. Ty’s past alpine coaching experience and experience as the Head Coach of the SSWSC Telemark Race Program make him the logical choice to be the designated US Telemark National Team Coach.
This is a volunteer position and Ty will be coaching the entire US Team at the US World Cup races in February and then will travel to Spain to coach the team members who will be competing at World Cup Finals and the Junior World Championships.
