Back Into It!

USTSAA few weeks ago I started training for the 2012 ski and race season. I thought I was doing pretty well, but I certainly hadn’t used those muscles that hard in a while! Then just in time for me to start feeling good in my workouts, work got very, very busy. Now after 3 weeks (and 200+ hours) I’m finally able to get back into a routine.

I’m really good at convincing myself I don’t like to exercise in the fall, and it can be disheartening to get into your rhythm only to have a week of rain/sleet/snow get in your way. Once I get my head in it though, I love being able to live and train in such a beautiful, amazing place. The leaves have been changing for about a month around Park City and the hillside behind our condo (Ecker Hill of ski jumping fame) is a different patchwork of colors daily. I love breathing hard and sweating in the cool air; hearing the crincle of snapping twigs and leaves; feeling the dry grass and sage lightly scratching at any exposed skin.

I’m looking forward (sort of) to the comfort of my CW-X gear tonight when I get home. This is a beautiful time of year to be outside. If anyone reads this, I hope you get the chance (and take it). It was a nice indian summer before I got busy and slacked off in my training. Now it’s cooling off and we’ve even had several inches of snow. Just a teaser though. Winter will be here soon enough!
