February 22, 2013 @ 1:00 pm - February 24, 2013 @ 10:00 pm

The US Telemark National Championships return to Steamboat Springs on February 22-24, 2013. Rumor is that there may be a day of training on the 21st with the team and National Coach Ty Upson. So if you are making plans, come a day early and get some great training and tips. Contact us at info@ustsa.org with any questions.

Detail Schedule – including registration times and locations. Please note the change of date for the USTSA Membership meeting

Thursday – Training afternoon with the US Team and Coach Ty Upson.
Friday – 2 Classic Races. Each race is one run only. The Classic is the longest of the telemark races and includes a GS gates, a jump, a 360 degree turn and a nordic skate section. These races will be at Mt Werner at the Steambat Springs Resort.
Saturday – Sprint Classic Race at Howelsen Hill. This is a two run event, similar to the classic but with a shorter GS and skate section. A banquet for racers, friends and family is planned for Saturday evening at The Smokehouse in downtown Steamboat. Dinner will be served at 6:30, but the restuarant will be open at 5:30 for those who would like adult drinks and to socialize before dinner.
Sunday – Parallel Sprint Classic Race at Howelsen Hill. This is the newest Telemark event. It begins with a 2 run Sprint Classic race. This is the seeding race for the Parallel race to follow which is a head to head, single elimination race. During this part of the race, each athlete races once on the red and once on the blue course. The fastest racer moves on to the next round. This race is very exciting for the racers and the spectators. The venue is veery spectator friendly with all the action visible from the base of the hill.
USTSA Membership Meeting – CHANGED to 4pm Saturday at the Smokehouse Restaurant on SATURDAY, prior to social hour and Banquet. Moose Drool on Tap!

What to Bring: Speedsuits are not required, but Helmets are. EXPERT category racers are required to have helmets with hard coverings over the ears. All other racers are encouraged to have hard coverings, but not required. All of the races include a skating section, so make sure you bring your nordic skate poles, you’ll be glad you did!

Junior 2 – 13 years and under (as of December 31 2012)
Junior 1 – age 14-17 (as of December 31, 2012)
Citizens – Open to all and includes Masters

Points:
Competitors who wish to earn points and/or be considered for a team position must have a USTSA Competitive Membership or a Junior Membership. For those of you who pay close attention to the points calculation, you will notice that there is no GS scheduled for nationals this year. The board of directors is working on a plan to calculate points in a way that will not penalize racers who have no GS races this season.
