Sprint Classic and Parallel Sprint – Eldora Mountain Resort, CO
February 28 - February 29
USTSA and Eldora Mountain Resort will host a Sprint Classic on Friday, February 28 and a Parallel Sprint on Saturday February 29th.
All races are open to the public and there are race categories for everyone, including Citizens, Juniors and Expert men and women. Members of the US Telemark Team will be present and can provide assistance to new racers. No experience or speedsuit is needed, but your helmet is required.
The Sprint Classic is a two run event and includes Giant Slalom Gates, a 360 degree banked turn, a jump and a Nordic skate section. Bring Nordic skate poles to help you with the skate section. You can navigate the GS portion of the race with your skate poles prior to the skate section, you’ll be glad you have them.
The Parallel Sprint is the most exciting to watch of all of the telemark racing events. Two Sprint-length courses are set, and racers compete side by side in a tournament-style elimination bracket. Racers fly off the same jump and are funneled in the same Rap before having to skate it out on the flats. Penalties are totaled live on the hill, and racers are required to skate further if they have gate or jump penalties. This is a fun head-to-head competition!
