My Skiing History:

I started alpine skiing at Arapahoe basin when I was 4 years old. My dad telemark skied and I always wanted to try it. Finally when I was 7 years old we were skiing at Loveland Ski Area when this guy named “Tele Ned” overheard a conversation with my dad and I about Telemark skiing. He let my try it and I loved it. I switched to it permanently the next year. I raced in my first Nationals that year. The 2007 Nationals in Steamboat Spring CO was the first time I had done any racing and I loved it. I raced again in the 2009 nationals in Steamboat. I have been racing ever since but

I still haven’t raced outside of Colorado.Brendan 2013 gates - web

My Goals and Motivation:

One of my biggest goals is to one day win the Telemark World Cup. I really just want to work on my skiing to get better and better and to never stop pushing myself so I can become the best that I can. The biggest thing that just keeps pushing me is that I just love the sport and how challenging it is.

What I love about Telemark Racing:

Telemark ski racing offers an incredible challenge and thrill that pushes me. I really love the feel from carving turns around a gate. The feeling of my skis pushing into the ground and turning right under my feet is truly indescribable. Then flying off the Nordic jump at insane speeds with unbelievable height and distance just adds to the thrill of the race. It really is just magical for me and the better I get the more thrilling racing gets with a bigger desire for first and speed.

Interesting Facts about Myself:

Aside from telemark racing, I have many sports and hobbies. All year around I do photography. I am currently trying to build a good set of photos for a profile. In the summer when the snow has melted, I do a lot of backpacking and mountaineering to stay fit. My summer goal it to finish climbing all 58 Colorado Fourteeners (Mountain’s 14,000ft or taller) by the summer of 2014.
