Alta Tele – Rando Races
What a weekend to hold a ski race event! Saturday, the weather Gods brought a blizzared with high winds. US coach Ty Upson said, ” never seen conditions like that when a race actually happened!” A group of hearty junior skiirs from Alta were there to race and were great sports in difficult conditions.
On Sunday, the uphill/downhill race was scheduled, but due to all the new snow and the avalanche danger, that event had to be cancelled. Instead, another Sprint Classic was held under blue skies. There were a dozen kids from Snowbasin who entered the Sunday races and then skied with members of the US team in the afternoon.
Race organizer Joel Nylander hosted 2 great events, with difficult weather. Thanks for your hard work and flexibility Joel. Thanks also to the sponors of this event. Kuhl, Big Sky Brewing, Nylander Rigging, Perf Audio and Willey Honda.
