2000 – 2009 Highlights
This first decade of the new Millennium got off to a great start for the US Telemark Community.
US Team member Reid Sabin of Whitefish, MT became the World Champion based on overall points in both 2000 and 2001. He also raced to a Gold in the Classic event at the World Championships in 2001 in Val Thorens, France.
Cody Thompson (McCarthy), also of Whitefish, MT raced to 2nd place overall in the 2000 World Cup season and had a 1st place podium finish in the Classic at the Kimberly, BC World Cup.

The majority of the US Team trained during the early 2000’s on the Big Mountain in Whitefish, Montana.
By the end of the decade, the number of Junior’s involved in racing began to grow and the Telemark program at Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club was started. USTSA established a Development Team for athletes age 17 and under.
USTSA hosted the first FIS World Championships held in the US at the Big Mountain (now Whitefish Mountain Resort) in Whitefish, Montana in 2003.
