2009 US Telemark National Championships to be held in Steamboat Springs

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and is excited to announce that the United States Telemark National Championships will be held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado February 26 through March 1, 2009. Steamboat Ski Resort Corporation and the City of Steamboat Springs will be hosting the venues for the events. The United States Telemark Ski Association and the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club will govern the events.

Steamboat Ski Resort Corporation will host the Classic and Telemark(G.S) races on Sitz and See Me runs on Mt. Werner February 26 and February 27. We are excited to have this venue as it gives us plenty of options to have a fun and challenging course for all athletes. The final two days of racing will be hosted on Howelsen Face in downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The City of Steamboat will provide an excellent site for the Sprint Classic and Slalom race at Howelsen Hill February 28 and March 1.

This will be the 2nd time that Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club has hosted the event. The event was very successful in 2007 bringing in more then 100 competitors from across the United States. A variety of competitive levels are offered including Masters, Open, Junior, and Elite for both men and women. Several of the US Telemark Ski Team members will be attending and competing for the National Champion title. Kelsey Schmid-Sommer of Whitefish, Montana and Shane Anderson of Steamboat will be back defending their titles.
