US Telemark Names 2008-2009 National Team Members
The United States Telemark Ski Association has announced the list of athletes for the National Team.
Leading the group of men’s “A” racers are World Cup veterans Shane Anderson of Cody, WY, Drew Hauser, from Silverthorne, CO, and Eric Lamb of Whitefish, Montana. That group of athletes had several top ten WC results last year.
They also rank in the top twenty in the world with Shane in 15th, Drew in 16th and Eric at 18th. Peter McMahon, Whitefish, MT. rounds out the men¹s squad. The men¹s squad is gunning for top results this year at the World Championships in Kreischberg, Austria starting January 20th, 2009. Anderson, the reigning US National Champion, was injured during the last championships, is looking for a great a result after a strong early season training program. Hauser is in his last year of eligibility as a Junior and will look to improve on his 3rd place overall finish from the 2007 Championships.
Kelsey Schmid-Sommer, also from Whitefish and Lorin Paley of Steamboat Springs, CO are the women’s representatives on the “A” squad. Schmid-Sommer just missed the podium in all four races last year at the World Cup finals and finished the season in 5th place overall in the World Cup standings. She brings a strong desire to improve on last year’s great performance and knock one of the top Norwegians off the podium this year.
The “B” Team consists of David Hobbs, Whitefish, MT, Ken Recker, Steamboat Springs, CO and Ben Paley, Steamboat Springs. The women’s “B” group includes Erika Walters, Steamboat Springs, Jeannine Poucel, Seattle, WA and Suzanne Pattinson of Spokane, WA. Named to the Development Team for 2008/2009 is Cory Snyder of Franconia, NH.
