Steamboat’s Telemark Revival
The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club will be hosting the Telemark Revival Saturday, February 7th 2009 as part of the 96th Winter Sports Club Winter Carnival. The Telemark Revival is open to all ages. Come and show us your telemark technique on Howelsen Hill located in downtown Steamboat Springs.
The Telemark Revival event pays homage to the original sport of telemark skiing. The event celebrates the turn through gates, moguls, jumps, and a skating section. Come on out and challenge yourself with the young and old alike. This will definitely be the most exciting free heeled event at this years Winter Carnival.
The Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival is an annual celebration that includes a variety of exciting and fun-filled events that embrace our western heritage and highlight our tradition of winter sports. The festivities include such events as an outdoor adventure film festival and/or slide show series, ski jumping, dual slalom bicycle race, snowboarding jam session, tubing party, pancake breakfast, soda pop slalom, telemark revival, international muzzle loading biathlon, the diamond hitch parade which includes the high school band on skis, street events with horse and rider pulling kids on skis down main street, and the night show with a huge fireworks display and the famous Lighted Man.
All spectators and event participants are encouraged to purchase and wear an official Winter Carnival button to show their support of Winter Carnival and of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. So grab your Winter Carnival button head on down to Howelsen Hill and enjoy a great day of action. Saturday is guaranteed to be the best day of the Winter Carnival get it started with the Telemark Revival and make sure you stay for the night show and the amazing fireworks display.
