NEWS FLASH

Nationals Update
Lack of snow this season and unseasonably warm temperatures has required that Whitefish Mountain Resort and the race organizers move the races from the bottom of the hill to the top.  The new location couldn't be more spectacular.  The runs are steep, the skating will be through a gladed area and the main chair lift will run right over this new course for great spectator exposure.  The daily schedule is being revised and will be posted by Monday morning.  The new schedule makes an effort to get the first and second runs going as quickly as possible as warm weather is expected this next week and this new course is a south facing course and will soften in the warm sun.  If you have any questions about Nationals, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Countdown to the National Championships  in Whitefish. It is time for racers to finalize their plans, make hotel reservations and send in registration forms.  While there will not be a late fee for completing registration, it will help the organizer be more organized and it will save racers time at check in, if you complete your forms in advance and send them to the address provided by March 12.  For those still trying to decide where to stay, race organizers just arranged for a small wax room (4 people at a time) to be provided at Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish.  Grouse Mountain is also where our banquet will be held and they have shuttle service to and from the airport and to and from the ski hill.  The cutoff date for arranging for your banquet tickets is Thursday, March 18 at 3pm, so if you will not be registered by then, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to reserve your banquet tickets.

US Racers Reflect on their Colorado World Cup Experiences

Drew Hauser:
"The races in the US held at Steamboat and Keystone this year were fantastic! it was great to have all the fast Euro's come over and see where we train as team at Steamboat during our Christmas camps and where I personally trained and grew up. It was great to see such amazing athletes exert so much effort on the in the high altitude classics at Keystone. The level of competition is increasing more and more each year, it won't be long until the hills aren't long enough to hold a true classic."

Cory Snyder:
"The World Cup events in Colorado were some of the best races of this year and certainly my career, with six finishes inside the top 20 and two in the top 15.  Not only were the events good, but getting the chance to do a little free skiing with other members of the team and folks from other countries, having the opportunity to compare ideas and training practices was extremely beneficial to me living so far away from most of the tele skiing world out there in Colorado.  I am very excited to hopefully participate in many more fantastic world cup races at both the amazing venues on Steamboat Springs/Howelsen HIll and Keystone!"

Eric Lamb:
"I loved competing in the Colorado World Cups and not having to travel overseas.  Competing in your own time zone alleviates a large amount of the competitive stresses. I am excited for the future of Telemark racing in Colorado during the next few years.  Steamboat Springs and Summit Country are literal hot spots of the sport."

Shane Anderson:
"So pleased to host all our friends and competitors to good events in Colorado.  It was really fun to race in our time zone for once.  Not having to fight through any travel fatigue.  It does make a difference.  Racing in Steamboat was fun.  Knowing that you have raced so much on familar hills and snow let me relax and rip it.  I was not nervous going into my second run at Howelsen Hill.  I knew what I had to do and had done it so many times before.  Taking advantage of the hometown hill and scoring a 3rd place finish.  In Keystone I really enjoyed the difficult Go Devil run.  I really liked the first run course set and was feeling great.  I felt like I made the most complete Classic run of my carreer.  The course had just about everything you could expect for on a Classic hill.  Another podium finish was the icing on the cake.  Fun stuff for sure."
