Skiing History:

I am an enthusiastic Telemark and Alpine racer training with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC). My alpine skiing started at 3 years old at Hidden Valley, a little ski area in New Jersey. Our ski season began in January and lasted until the end of February.

At 9 my family made the big move to Steamboat Springs. Now I ski in July or August at Mt. Hood, start the season in October and finish winter racing and training in May. I started Telemark skiing three years ago with the new SSWSC Telemark Program. My alpine coach Matt Graves is an avid telemark skier and suggested that I try the new program to build strength, balance and agility.

The program started with only 6 kids plus my mom and dad. We had great coaches, Ken Recker and Aryeh Copa, who shared their love of telemark skiing and their incredible skills. The program now has over 40 kids and 5 coaches ripping up Steamboat on telemark skis.

I took a year off in 2005 due to a bad femur break in early season training, but I made a great comeback last year with a 2nd place finish at the Nationals in the woman’s open class and good results at the J3 Alpine Junior Olympics.

This year I am racing telemark, USSA J3 alpine, and high school alpine and nordic. I am out of high school at noon during the winter at The Lowell Whiteman School, train alpine from 1-3 and then train telemark or nordic cross country from 4- 6. I love living in Steamboat, but my grandparents in New Jersey think that we are crazy!

Goals, Attitude and Motivation:

My goals for this year are to win Nationals which will be held in Steamboat this year and have a solid finish at Junior World Cup in Switzerland. My motivation comes from my coaches when they beat the alpine racers on their tele gear.

Why do you Telemark Race?

It is the most fun and dynamic way to ski.

Interesting Facts about yourself:
