Skiing History:
I began skiing when I was three. I skied recreationally until I turned seven, then I started alpine racing. I tried telemarking in 2001 and attended my first nationals in 2003.
Competition Results:
- Named to the 2004 Eastern J-III Olympic Team (alpine)
- 2004 Junior National Champion (telemark)
- 5th in Classic at 2005 Junior World Championships
- 10th place finish at World Cup GS in Kimberly, BC
- 11th place finishes in Sprint Classic and Classic at World Cup Finals in Schweitzer, ID
- 2005 GS National Champion
Goals, Attitude and Motivation:
This year I hope to make it to the podium at the Junior World Championships. I will also work for some top ten finishes at World Cups and finish in the top 20 in the overall standings. My general motivation is to work hard so that I may represent my country proudly overseas. I do not believe one should get too discouraged after a bad race, yet it should be used as fuel for success in the future.
Why do you Telemark Race?
I enjoy Telemark Racing because in order to excel at it, I must acquire an abundance of skills and use them simultaneously. I enjoy exerting myself an-aerobically, testing my strength, the thrill of speed, the sense of flight obtained by jumping, and competition. Telemark Racing consists of all of these things, which must be executed with finesse. I also love the people that the sport attracts and experiences I get to share with them.
Interesting Facts about yourself:
In the fall I run cross country. I attend Waterville Valley Academy during the winter, and I run track in the spring as a middle distance runner. I like to be social and hang out with my brother, Mike, who attends the University of Pennsylvania.
